"In early 2026, we paid a 25% deposit to American Platinum Remodeling for a home renovation project. Before any work began, we exercised our contractual right to cancel the agreement. Under the contract terms, unused funds were to be returned within 30 days. Despite multiple requests, we have not received a refund, an accounting of any costs incurred, or a response regarding the status of the deposit."

"My family hired American Platinum Remodeling based on strong online reviews, but our experience turned into an expensive and extremely stressful situation. We ultimately had to terminate the contract mid-project to avoid further financial loss. Large deposits paid, minimal progress made. We observed poor framing, uneven flooring, and electrical and structural work that raised serious safety concerns. As a result, we are now out tens of thousands of dollars and must pay another contractor to repair and complete the job. We would not hire American Platinum Remodeling again and do not recommend their services."

"Working with American Platinum Remodeling was an incredibly frustrating experience. We gave them a 30% deposit for a bathroom renovation. They didn't apply for the permit until days before the start date, caused weeks of unnecessary delays, and the owner told my husband he 'didn't get up that early' when asked to meet at the job site at 7AM. The sheetrocking was done so poorly we had to hire our own crew to completely redo it. Save yourself the immense stress, do your homework, and avoid this company at all costs."

"It has been three years of fighting, struggling, and losing our life savings. APR abandoned my home, leaving only about 38% of the work completed, and roughly 15% of that done incorrectly. They took $180,000 at signing, plus an additional $22,500 over months of excuses, delays, and empty promises. This company has misled many people with fake ratings and paid TV appearances that create the illusion of credibility. Check their BBB rating. Do your homework before you sign anything with them."

"Our experience with American Platinum Remodeling was a nightmare. They took large payments early in our renovation, failed to complete the work, and repeatedly delayed the project while our home sat unfinished and unlivable. After more than a year of broken promises and poor workmanship, we were forced to terminate them. Since speaking out, we have been contacted by other homeowners describing strikingly similar experiences. We are now dealing with black mold in addition to several other quality issues."

"I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with Greg and Ariana Donofrio. My experience showed a consistent pattern of behavior that raises serious concerns about their integrity, professionalism, and whether they are capable of operating a legitimate, reliable business. Promises were made that were not kept, timelines were repeatedly missed, and communication was often inconsistent, unclear, or misleading. When issues arose, there was little to no effort to take responsibility or resolve concerns in a direct and honest way. Based on my experience, I would not trust them with any project or financial commitment."

"If there were negative stars, that's what I'd rate. We signed a contract in November 2024 for a house to be completed by May 2025 — we are still trying to get them to complete the foundation and framing. Our township building department issued 4 building violations (unsafe structure, property maintenance, failure to follow plan, failure to call for inspection) resulting in fines over $120k. Their framer threatened a lien on our house after we had already paid APR for his work. They consistently stalled progress, had nonexistent onsite project management, and communication bordered on ghosting. We had to fire them months past our contracted completion date. There are 3 complaints under investigation with the NJDCA, the HIC licensing board, and 3 BBB complaints. Not recommended."

"DO NOT HIRE AMERICAN PLATINUM! If you see the name Greg Donofrio associated with the company, don't hire them. We had to fire these clowns 16 months after we signed the contract, and 10 months after the work was supposed to be completed. They are incompetent at best, scam artists at worst. It doesn't matter what is in your contract — if there is a corner they'll find a way to cut it. If the contract states R15 insulation, you'll get R13. If the contract states Benjamin Moore paint, who knows what they'll put on your wall. The floors are covered with edger swirl and gaps, the mud and tape job looked bad when new, collar ties are unlevel enough to show through the sheetrock, and trash was thrown under the floor — including beer cans. Don't be fooled by the number of good ratings they have."
